Characterization of splenogonadal fusion by contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and elastography.

چکیده
Introduction ▼ Splenogonadal fusion is a rare congenital anomaly and is the result of an abnormal association of splenic and gonadal tissue during gestation. The etiology remains unclear. Splenogonadal fusion may originate in the early embryonal period, during which the stomach rotation causes proximity between the different anlages. It is almost always found on the left side, given the anatomical proximity of the spleen and the left gonad during embryogenesis [R. Lopes et al. Einstein (Sao Paulo) 2012; 10: 92-95, C. Lin et al. J Urol 2010; 184: 332-333]. The condition is an important differential diagnosis to other scrotal masses, particularly testicular cancer, which in unclear cases leads to unnecessary orchiectomies with benign pathologic results.

متن کاملIs Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS) ready for use in daily practice for evaluation of focal liver lesions?
Abdominal ultrasound is one of the most popular imaging methods due to its feasibility, low cost and accessibility. Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound (CEUS) with second generation contrast agents became in the last years a useful tool for the characterization of focal liver lesions (FLL) so that EFSUMB issued guidelines for its use in clinical practice. Several large studies proved that CEUS has sim...

Introduction Adenomatoid tumours of epididymis are common benign tumours whose grey-scale and colour Doppler ultrasound features can be variable. As it is the case for any palpable scrotal mass, accurate diagnosis and exclusion of malignancy is crucial and essential to avoid unnecessary surgeryand anxiety for the patient. Tissue elastography and contrast enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) represent two...
متن کاملApplication of high-resolution ultrasound, real-time elastography, and contrast-enhanced ultrasound in differentiating solid thyroid nodules
High-resolution ultrasound (HRUS) is a sensitive tool for identifying thyroid nodules. Real-time elastography (RTE) and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) are newly developed methods which could measure tissue elasticity and perfusion features. The aim of the present study was to evaluate and compare the diagnostic efficiency of HRUS, RTE, CEUS and their combined use in the differentiation of ...
